Happy Tuesday, friends! Every Tuesday, Diane @ Bibliophile By the Sea hosts First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros in which bloggers share the first paragraph of a book they’re reading or thinking of reading soon.
This is from Animal Farm by George Orwell. This well-loved tale is a satire on the Soviet Communist system that still remains a powerful warning despite the changes in world politics since “Animal Farm” was first published.
Here’s bringing you the first paragraph of the book.
Mr. Jones, of the Manor Farm, had locked the hen-houses for the night but was too drunk to remember to shut the pop-holes. With the ring of light from his lantern dancing from side to side, he lurched across the yard, kicked off his boots at the back door, drew himself a last glass of beer from the barrel in the scullery, and made his way up to bed, where Mrs. Jones was already snoring.
Now I really want to know what happened next?
What do you think, what might have happened, any guesses?
